Yard Sale Question

Have any of you ever had a yard sale?  We're thinking of hold one to sell our furniture and household items preparatory to moving cross country.  What are reasonable prices to expect people to pay for items like books, childrens clothing, womens/mens clothing & shoes, furniture, and toys.  Is it worth it? What have your experiences been?  Any sage advice?

  1. Depending on when you need to have it buy, you could check out other yard sales. When we had ours a few years ago, someone said that I under priced a lot of the big stuff.

We might be moving too in a few weeks and will be having one too. I hate garage sales!

  2. I babysat my parent's yardsales years ago. I remember tanning in the driveway waiting for people to come. I'm sure inflation has driven up prices since my prior yardsale days. I'd check and compare prices on KSL.com. And then remember that people come to yard sales looking for a good deal. Get ready to negotiate.

  3. I read or heard somewhere that if you have a yard sale, that you should have a "free" section. Things that you are willing to give away. I lures people in.
